"We Don't Defend - We Win."
We have experience aggressively defending complex labor and employment suits on behalf of public entities, from initial administrative complaint through the federal court of appeals. We've counseled and defended alleged violations of the FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, and other discrimination issues.
We provide defense counsel and have extensive experience defending insured employment practices and workplace law claims for public entities, such as claims arising out of alleged discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or wage and hour claims, and assisting in pre-loss matters such as conducting internal investigations.
We defend law enforcement departments and officers against claims of excessive force, deprivation of rights, unlawful search and seizure, medical treatment, suicides, and other constitutional claims.
We conduct official misconduct and government work place investigations when local governments and school districts are faced with allegations of misconduct and will provide a report and recommendations to management.
We handle administrative complaints and investigations with the US Office of Civil Rights (OCR) and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
We represent and advise clients in zoning decisions, disputes, and litigation. We have litigated and won zoning cases before boards of appeals, circuit courts, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
We assist government entities in employment and labor law matters, including grievance arbitration, wage and hour disputes, unemployment compensation, workers’ compensation, the FLSA, the FMLA, the ADA, discrimination, and hiring and firing issues.
We represent government entities and management in negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and in arbitration and grievance proceedings, including collective bargaining negotiations with law enforcement and first responders.
We assist school districts with
special education matters arising under the IDEA and Section 504, including advising on compliance, attending IEP meetings, defending due process hearings and handling appeals to the district courts and the courts of appeals.
We counsel school districts with student suspensions, expulsions, and other discipline. We also defend against claims that discipline has violated constitutional rights.
We counsel governmental entities on public records law and open meeting law compliance and represent them in litigation concerning claimed violations.
